Saint Joseph’s Jazz Band is getting excited for their for their upcoming performance at the fall Coffee House. The Coffee House will be held on Thursday, November 15th, 2018. This year is the Jazz Band’s biggest year, with over 25 students having joined. The group is run by music teacher, Mr. Don Macleod. The band has a wide range of talents from all different age groups, who are all looking forward to getting up on stage.
Although the band has the word jazz in the title, they don’t only play jazz music. They play all sorts of different genres, for example, they play a lot of modern day pop music. This year, they have a great playlist for their Coffee House performance. Some of the songs include Viva la Vida by Coldplay, Superstition by Stevie Wonder, and Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran. Those are only a few examples of the what is going to be played.
A grade ten performer by the name of Mikulas Horvath wanted to share his experience with the band, “ I only joined the band this year and I was a little worried that I wouldn’t fit in, but the Jazz Band allows me to perform the songs I want to, and it’s my favourite part of the week.” Another student named Griffin Mulvihill said, “It is definitely worth my after school time on Tuesdays.”
The Coffee House always starts off with the amazing Jazz Band performance. They students put a lot of time and dedication into perfecting their songs. If you are able, definitely take time to come see them perform.
